Lungs

2023

We will look at beauty, but will we look at devastation?  We want something beautiful. And sad. Our melancholy heroine, adorned in a mohair bodice with pearls and ribbon is joined by a set of lace, felt, and bubble wrap lungs. She pulls us in. These lungs protrude from her body, existing on the outside. Exposed. Frilled and aritficial, glowing like an x-ray. Is she aware? There is something haunting about her, ghostly, as she stands alone with salt covered skin. Rough and coarse. What lies ahead?
The sky has stormed. The lake has dried. The dust is toxic.
